Gail Marie McGrath (nee Shearer), a long-time resident of Barnegat Township, passed away April 13, 2017, after struggling valiantly with a brief illness.
Gail was born in 1944 in Livingston, NJ, to Lorraine and Warren Van Winkle. She served as a bus driver in Barnegat Township for 33 years, where she was adored by her colleagues and the children she drove to and from school every day and around the state on various adventures.
Gail also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and reveled in their accomplishments. She also enjoyed traveling the world, recently having gone on a cruise to Europe and a cruise through Alaska. Other activities she enjoyed were spending time on the beach, lavishing attention on her dogs, working in her garden, and reading.
Gail was preceded in death by her mother and father as well as her stepfather Robert Shearer. She is survived by her children Cheryl (Mike) Hubbard, Ed (Sarah) Wales-McGrath, and Tracy Pinto; grandchildren Kyle Pinto, Benjamin and Sam Wales-McGrath, and Jess Hubbard; great-granddaughter Mikayla Pinto; and brother Doug (Karen) Shearer.
Memorial services were held at Barnegat Funeral Home.
