Virginia T. Shoemaker, 86, of Barnegat, NJ passed on Thursday, August 22, 2024 peacefully at home. Born in Elizabeth, NJ to her late parents, Alfred and Margaret Townley, she was raised in Westfield, NJ and went on to earn her degree at Sullins College in Virginia. In 1964, she was married to William Shoemaker Sr and moved to Manahawkin, where they raised their family. She loved coaching girls soccer for Stafford Township and later became an assistant coach with her daughter, Kim. She also worked for Stafford Township Schools as a bus driver for 25 years. “Ginny” was always meaningfully involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her absence leaves a void in her family and in the community.
She is survived by her three loving children, William Shoemaker and his wife, Donna, Kimberly Tourigny and her husband, Peter, David Shoemaker; five cherished grandchildren, Nathaniel, Rebecca, Amanda, Jennifer and Renn; six great-grandchildren, Amelia, Fiona, Jeffrey, Nathan, Elijah and Bryson; nephew, David Townley, Jr.
A public Graveside Service will be held at White Cedars Memorial Park in Manahawkin, NJ on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
