Susan Anne Smith, 70, of Barnegat, NJ, passed away on December 16, 2024. Born on March 30, 1954, Susan grew up in Ocean Gate, NJ. In 1979, she married her high school sweetheart, Willie Smith, in their brand-new home in Barnegat, where they raised their family and shared a lifetime of love. Susan was a devoted wife, a loving and patient mother, and a proud grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her family.
A nurse for 30 years, Susan cared for her patients with unparalleled empathy and compassion. Her warmth and kindness allowed her to connect with anyone she met, and she had an extraordinary gift for making friends wherever she went.
Susan’s famous lasagna brought her family together around the table, and her love of music filled their home. A lifelong Beatles fan, she knew every lyric to every oldie, often singing along and passing her passion for music on to her friends and family.
Susan is predeceased by her parents, Roberta Kearley and Robert Kremer. She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Willie Smith; her sons Daniel and Matthew Smith; her daughter-in-law Tara Smith; her treasured grandchildren, Madison and Hudson Smith; her brother Steven Kremer, CAPT, USN (Ret); her sisters-in-law Rose Johnson, Diane Smith, and Cheryl Kremer; and many adoring nieces and nephews. Susan will be remembered for her endless patience, her genuine empathy, and her ability to make everyone feel at home in her presence.
A celebration of Susan’s life will be held at Community Baptist Church in Manchester at 11 AM on Monday, December 23. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her honor to The Alzheimer’s Association.
Susan’s legacy lives on in the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the songs she sang that continue to echo in the hearts of her family and friends.
