Steve Margeotes was a devoted father, husband, and with his wife, co-founder of Main St. Counseling Center, a nonprofit dedicated to providing mental health services to Essex County, New Jersey residents who otherwise might not have access to care. As the inspiring and inspired leader—the idea man behind MSC—Steve helped transform a vision of accessible mental health support into a lasting and meaningful resource for the community he cared deeply about.

Friendly and caring by nature, Steve was always looking to create positive relationships with others. He had a natural ability to connect with people, foster trust, and build lasting bonds, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Outside of his work in mental health advocacy, Steve carried a lifelong passion for sports. He played football for many years and ultimately pursued that passion through a walk-on tryout to the last cut, with the New York Jets. His love of sports was something he shared closely with his brother, Gary Margeotes, a sportscaster based in Miami, Florida. Their shared enthusiasm for athletics reflected a strong family bond and a mutual appreciation for the game.

Above all, Steve’s life was defined by his devotion to his family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary P. Duguid; his daughter, Kit Margeotes; and his brother, Gary Margeotes, along with all those whose lives he touched through his kindness, friendship, and service.
