Stephen “Steve” Kaczala passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he resided there for 30 years, later becoming a resident of South River, NJ where he lived another 30 years. He retired in Barnegat in 1999.
After graduating from Henry Snyder High School, he attended Rutgers University and was eventually employed by the Prudential Insurance Company. Steve was a true “people person” which suited him well as an agent for Prudential, where he worked for 35 years.
An avid sports fan, Steve loved both watching and discussing games and collecting sports memorabilia. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, spending time with grandchildren and family, biking, traveling and volunteering. As an active member of St Mary’s Parish, he served on the building committee for St Mary of the Pines church, the Carnival Committee and as a weekly collection counter. He also volunteered his time with Interfaith.
Family was at the heart of Steve’s life. He shared 62 happy years of marriage with his wife, Joann (nee Blischak). Together they raised a family that brought him immense pride and happiness. He is survived by his wife; their son Stephen J Kaczala; daughters Kathryn & husband Joseph Herzberg and Jennifer Kaczala & husband Robert Uibelhoer; grandchildren Zachary Herzberg and Katie & husband Robert Blundon; a sister Virginia & husband James Crane and their children Christine Barrow and Kathleen Crane.
