Salvatore T. Petruzzi, 85, of Barnegat, passed away at home on Sunday, July 27, 2025. He lived a life of quiet strength, endless love, and unwavering devotion to his family, his loved ones would say.
Born and raised in Newark, NJ, to his late parents Salvatore and Lena Petruzzi, Sal carried these values with him throughout his life. He made community service a meaningful part of his journey, generously volunteering with St. John’s Soup Kitchen, a local battered women’s shelter in Newark, and the Cerebral Palsy Association of Menlo Park, NJ.
He formerly resided in Piscataway and enjoyed a lengthy career with Western Electric, which later became AT&T and then Lucent Technologies—before retiring. He was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers.
After moving to Mirage in Barnegat, Sal remained active in his community through involvement with the Mirage Men’s Club, the Italian American Club and Nimble Fingers.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Andrew and Carmen Petruzzi. Sal is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Viola Petruzzi; his loving son and daughter-in-law, Salvatore and Karen Petruzzi; his cherished grandson and “buddy,” Jason Petruzzi; two sisters-in-law, Minnie Accomando and Frances Cupo; his lifelong friend, Dr. Bernard Gonzales; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 5 to 8 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Mass offered Friday, 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, Barnegat. Entombment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
