Salvatore J. Pace, 83, of Barnegat passed away on Sunday May 16, 2021. Sal, or Sonny, as he was known to his family was one of four children born to Gulio and Anna Pace who emigrated from Sicily in the early 1900’s and settled in Newark, NJ.
Sal worked many jobs as a young man, where he eventually met his bride Dorothy to whom he was married for 62 years. Sal is remembered by his loving wife, his daughter Linda Infurna and her husband Michael, his son Robert and his wife Michele, his two grandchildren Anthony and Rebecca, and his brother Frank and sister-in-law Josephine.
Sal was a proud veteran of the Coast Guard, serving in both active duty and as a reservist from 1961 to 1969. He worked at Exxon Mobil Corp. for 35 years researching new products and formulations for their chemicals division. He counts several new product patents among his many achievements.
His numerous hobbies and passions centered around nature and the outdoors. Sal enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He especially loved to race up the block from his shore house to the beach when the blues and stripers were running to surf fish. Over the years Sal and Dot traveled, often with close friends, to Mexico, Italy, Alaska, Florida and elsewhere. While at home in Barnegat, he enjoyed the company of friends from Heritage Point for their weekly poker games. Sal was truly blessed with having many friends and a devoted wife and children.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 from 1 to 4 PM with a Blessing offered 2:30 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations to Catholic Charities in Salvatore’s name greatly appreciated. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
