Ron was born Dec 8, 1935 to the late Howard J. And A. Marian(nee Stoner) Turner. He resided in the Mayfair section of Northeast Philadelphia for most of his life. A June '53 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School, Ron was an outstanding athlete, excelling in both soccer and baseball. He then went on to play semi-pro baseball for Magnolia Bridesburg and even tried out for the Philadelphia Phillies.
Ron began working for Phila National Bank in 1954, where he worked in Equipment Finance for 10 years, was appointed Assistant Vice President, and retired after 41 years as a branch manager.
Ron met his true love, Norma at Resurrection Episcopal Church Sunday school when they were 10 years old. They began dating in 1953, and married May 11, 1957. Ron was an active parishioner at Resurrection for many years and served on the vestry.
Ron loved to take his family on vacations every year, renting houses on LBI, a camping trip to New England and trips to Disney World.
A true Philly sports fan, he loved cheering on his Phillies, Eagles, 76ers and Flyers.
Ron and Norma moved to Heritage Point, Barnegat NJ in 2004, where they became active members of the HP community, playing bocce ball, bowling and Ron volunteering at the clubhouse. He was well liked and could always be found helping his friends and neighbors in their community.
They joined St Stephen's Episcopal church in Waretown where they both sang in the choir and Ron was treasurer for a number of years.
In closing, Ron was an avid bowler and even bowled a "300" perfect game in April 2000. His friends and family would like to think his entire life was a "perfect game.”
A Memorial Service to celebrate Ron's life, will take place at St Stephen's Episcopal Church, Waretown NJ on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 12:00 PM.
