Ronald Schmidt Obituary

Ronald B. Schmidt, 91, of Manahawkin, NJ,  passed on Thursday, March 26, 2020. Born in Union, NJ, to his late parents, Peter and Beatrice (Brooks) Schmidt, he is survived by his beloved wife, Christine.  Also surviving are his two loving daughters, Janet Schmidt Read and Joan Schmidt; four cherished grandchildren, Nicole, and her husband, Ryan Trachman, Rachel Fasano, Danielle Marotta and Christopher Fasano and four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Jenna, Emily and Arlo. After serving in the United States Navy, Ronald began his career with New Jersey Bell, working his way up to District Manager of Residential Services for Monmouth and Ocean counties. He was involved in many civic activities, most notably serving as Campaign Chairman for the United Way Drive. He was also a member on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Monmouth Council of Boy Scouts, as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council  and Chairman of the business and industry committee. Aside from his many interests, such as camping, boating, fishing and bird-watching, Ronald had a distinguished career of volunteer services, including great contributions to the growth and development of youth in Monmouth and Ocean counties, as well as holding the title of President of many church groups. Ronald, and his late wife, Jean, resided in the Lincroft section of Middletown for 36 years. He was also pre-deceased by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Iannocci. 

Private viewing will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Graveside Service, along with Military Honors and entombment will follow 11:30 am at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum , 900 Holmdel Rd., Holmdel, NJ. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
