Robert “Bob” C. Petersen, 87, of Tinton Falls, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on May 22, 1937, Bob grew up in Fords, NJ, where he lived for most of his life. In 1997, he and his beloved wife Arlene relocated to Barnegat, NJ, and earlier this year, they moved to Tinton Falls.
A devoted husband, Bob married his high school sweetheart, Arlene Goetz Petersen, on June 21, 1958 beginning a loving partnership that lasted more than six decades. Bob was a proud father to Christopher Petersen and his wife Margot, and to Sharon Witkowski and her husband Peter. He was a cherished grandfather, affectionately known as Pop Pop by his grandchildren Adam Witkowski, Margaux Petersen, Ashlyn Petersen Hillmann, and Julia Witkowski.
A proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 456, Bob dedicated much of his professional life to M-P Electric in Hopelawn, NJ. His professional life was marked by leadership, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
A passionate boater and fisherman, Bob spent many happy hours on the water. He was a longtime member of the Raritan Bay Power Squadron, where he taught seamanship and shared his love of boating with others. In Barnegat, he was an active member of his homeowners' association, serving on the board and as president, always working to improve the community he called home.
Bob will be remembered for his generous spirit, quick sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 2 to 6 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Massed offered Wednesday, 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, Barnegat. Interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin, NJ. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
