Robert Bethanis Obituary

Robert Bethanis, 72, passed away on Saturday, while in the thoughts and prayers of many friends and family members.  A proud member of the NJ Forest Fire Service, he served for 55 years as a District Warden and was a mentor and friend to many.  He worked most of his life at Fisher Sand & Gravel in Bayville.  Bob enjoyed hunting and winning drag races. He found a love of cooking, and he was always busy spending time with his family, especially the love of his life, Betsy.  Bob and Betsy were true soul mates who spent 56 wonderful and loving years together and raised two exceptional children.  He spent his retirement spending time with his great grandchildren, especially the light of his day, “his girl” Reese.  Bob is predeceased by his parents; his son, Robert; his siblings, Arthur Bethanis and Patricia Thompson.  Bob leaves behind his loving wife, Betsy as well as his son, John (Jacqui) of Waretown; his step-mother, Eileen and her companion Ted; grandchildren, Caitlin (Blane) of Barnegat and Robert (Laura’Ann) of JBER, AK.  He also leaves behind his best buddies who made him smile every day, his great-grandchildren, Morrison, William, Reese, and Robert.  To honor Bob’s request, no services will be held, but donations can be made to www.CastawayCritters.org to commemorate Bob’s life and love of his dog Lacey. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
