Richard was born and raised in Jersey City with his mother, father and two sisters. He was a carpenter by trade and was self employed for several years in the home improvement business. He retired in 2010 and moved with his wife to Barnegat from their home in Fairfield.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Connie; his sister Dorothy and brother in-law Joe and his sister Mary Linda Kost. He is also survived by his nephew Joseph, his wife Michele and their son Joseph; his nephew Anthony and his son Dominic and daughter Sofia; his nephew Brian and his son Thomas and his nephew Robert. In addition he is survived by his nephew John Flynn, his wife Dawn and daughters Mary and Alana.
Rich was a member of the Ridgefield Park Elks club and served as Chaplain, Special Children’s committee chairman and rose through the chairs to the position of Exalted Ruler. Since living at the Mirage in Barnegat, he was a member of the Mirage Men’s club, the Italian American Club and co-chaired the AV committee. He love to boat, fish and crab and spent many hours on Barnegat Bay.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 9 to 11 AM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Mass to follow, 11:30 AM at St. Mary's Church, Barnegat, NJ.
