Richard F. O'Connell

Richard Francis O’Connell 1939-2026

Richard was born in Jersey City, NJ. He attended St.Michaels High school in Union City, NJ. He served in the United States Army and attended the University of Maryland and NYU. He worked for Morgan Stanley in New York City for over 25 years and First Chicago Bank for five years. A long resident of Nutley, he moved to the Jersey shore and was a resident  of Greenbrier in Waretown for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Nutley Elks for over 40 years and served as the exalted ruler in 1997-98.

He was preceded by his wife Marie O’Connell (nee. Zingales), Parents Harold and Lucille, and brother Gregory Michael. He is survived by Children Richard, Brian and his wife Rebecca, Gary and his wife Margaret, 10 grandchildren Richard, Amanda, Thomas, Jaqueline, Caroline, Katherine, Gregory, Andrew, Nicole, and Patrick. He also had four great grandchildren Isla, Everly, Jack and Emma.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 4 to 7 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Blessing offered Saturday, 10:00 AM at Barnegat Funeral Home. Interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
