Richard W. Bigg

Richard W. Bigg, 76, of Long Beach Township, NJ, passed on Sunday, May 15, 2022 peacefully at home. Born in Yorkshire England, Richard came to the United States as a baby. He grew up in Jersey City and graduated St. Peter's College. His lifelong pursuit of learning earned him 3 Masters degrees, and he would often be found watching "The Great Courses" series. Richard served in the Army during Vietnam,  and was stationed in Hawaii. After retirement from a long career in the pharmaceutical industry, he volunteered at Southern Ocean Medical Center in the pharmacy department. Richard loved reading, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He loved to sail and dreamed of sailing the coast down to the Caribbean,  although he never quite left Barnegat Bay. Known by his family for his collection of pipes and Christmas ties, Richard was a quiet man, but always there for someone in need.

He is predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Phyllis, and his parents Kathleen and George. He is survived by his loving daughter, Stefanie Andolina and son, Andrew Bigg, and his wife Nina; his 4 grandchildren, whom he loved greatly, Jared Richard, Jesse James, Victoria, and James. He is also survived by his brother Gregory Bigg, and his wife Patricia, and his sister Deborah DeMello, as well as all his nieces and nephews.

Richard was loved by many and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 3-7 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Avenue, Barnegat, NJ. Private Cremation to follow. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
