Raimund E. Barton

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Raimund E. Barton, 79, on April 27, 2026.
Raimund was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, family member, neighbor, and friend who touched the lives of many through his kindness, knowledge, strength, and loyalty .
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth; his daughters, Donna Gildea and Christine Barton; his son-in-law, John Gildea; his brothers, Rob and Harold Barton; and his cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Sarah, and Emma Gildea.
Raimund served in the United States Army for six years before moving to Barnegat, where he resided until his death. He was a career electrician, until retirement.
Raimund enjoyed fishing, golf, hunting, playing the slots, and repairing things. Besides sharing his love of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren, he spent countless hours over the years supporting and watching them playing basketball, tennis, and volleyball. He was a resolute statistician and kept detailed records of the games. As a loving Pop pop, he also used his ingenuity to create fun activities, games, and homemade cards for his grandchildren that brought them so much joy .
Raimund will be remembered for his helpful and caring spirit to all, for his mental aptitude, for repurposing old household items, and for his ability to fix anything and everything –often with creative and unconventional solutions. He brought laughter to others with his sharp wit and dry sense of humor. He will also be remembered for the unconditional support of his family, as a fun and loving Pop pop, and the lasting impact that he had on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
