Philip “Dockmaster Phil” Greco, 94 of Barnegat, formerly of Lodi, NJ, passed away quietly on March 2nd 2021. Born in Lodi, NJ, Phil joined the Navy during WWII at 16. He was stationed on the USS Taluga AO62, as witnessed by his license plate and ever-present hat, before being honorably discharged.
He was married to Helen (Kapulka) and has 2 children, Justine and Richard, Robert his son in law, and Hope his daughter in law, 5 grandchildren, Coleen, Robert, Kerri, Cheryl, and Andrew, 11 Great Grandchildren, Nicolette, Hailey, James, Logan, Molly, Nicholas, Madison, Brandon, Jacob, Garrett, and Martina and 1 Great-Great Granddaughter Charolette.
Phil was a Stable at the Barnegat Dock, always willing to lend a hand, kibitz a bit, or pass a funny remark, loved to make people smile, and loved to dance the night away while listening to the Saturday Night entertainment. He became the Dockmaster before retiring at age 89 after 22 years of service. He was also a lifetime member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary Barnegat Light. Before moving from Lodi to Barnegat, Phil was a member of North Hudson Yacht Club, and earlier in life, he was a member of the Lodi Old Timers Little League Club, and the Lodi Police Auxiliary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the American Heart Association and the Alzheimer's Association.
