Patricia Rose Obituary

On Thursday September the 8th, 2022, Patricia Rose, loving mother of three, peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends at her son’s home at the age of 87. Patricia “Trish” was born in Philadelphia, PA to parents Albert and Gertrude Rayner. She was married to Edward Sweeney, father of her children in 1955.

Surviving her are her oldest son Edward Sweeney, Jr., her daughter Susan Sweeney Barrett and her youngest son Timothy Sweeney and his wife Carol Sweeney.

She leaves behind her brothers Albert Rayner, Jr, William Rayner and her sister Kathy Lord. She was grandmother of seven grandchildren, Amber, Shannon, Cy, Tara, Kyle, Katie and Emily and one great grandson Jameson. Patricia married William E. Rose in 1992 and had 10 wonderful years before he passed.  Her special friends she leaves behind, called “The Chicks” include Phyllis, Boni, and Joan who spent many years traveling and exploring many other exciting adventures.  She also leaves behind lifetime friends Liz and Donna.

Trish was a practicing member of St. Mary’s Church in Barnegat serving as a Eucharist Minister. For many years she enjoyed teaching catechism to the second graders preparing them for First Holy Communion.

She loved Barnegat Bay and being on the water. Her favorite pastimes included fishing, clamming and crabbing. In the 1980’s, she was co-owner of a children’s clothing store in Ship Bottom called Strawberry Square and had a long tenure working as a secretary at Southern Regional High School.

Services will be held on October 15th at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s of the Pines Church in Manakawkin. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
