Obituary

Patricia Ann Du Brul of Jensen Beach, Florida, passed away surrounded by her family on September 17, 2022, after a brief and courageous battle with leukemia.  She was the daughter of the late Stephen and Helen (Ameijka) Klosek. She was born on April 30, 1946, and grew up in in Jersey City, New Jersey.  Following her marriage in 1968, she lived much of her life in South Jersey in Medford Lakes and Waretown while briefly residing in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and California, before retiring with her husband to Jensen Beach, Florida.  After retirement, they continued to spend summers on Barnegat Bay in Waretown.  Her passions were reading and any activities that took her outdoors including tennis, biking, hiking, boating, and rough housing with her children and grandchildren throughout her adult life.  She was an accomplished Hobie Cat sailor and served as Hobie Cat Fleet 452 Vice Commodore.  She accomplished her final wish when within a week of her death, she and her husband took their final jet ski to Tices Shoal, a cove at Island Beach State Park on Barnegat Bay.  Always the life of every party and gathering, her philosophy of life can be summed up by one particular incident when she put on her bathing suit, attached an inner tube to her bike rack, and biked to a local Medford Lakes beach.  As she biked away from home a neighbor was overheard to say, “That Pat DuBrul really knows how to have fun!”

Patricia earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Thomas Edison University in 1978 after having attended several other colleges and universities.  Subsequently, she founded and operated Patricia Du Brul & Associates to provide public relations and information on behalf of many New Jersey school districts.  She also wrote independently for several publications including the Central Record, Medford, New Jersey and was published in the New York Times.  She was especially proud of her award from the N. J. Press Association for an article describing her adventures biking over the German Alps.

She is survived by her husband, Raoul “Stan”, her daughter, Renee, two sons, Peter and Andrew, two granddaughters, Brooke and Caroline, four grandsons, Anderson, Robin, Tristan, and Weston, two brothers Robert and Stephen, and two sisters, Judith Brattole and Ellen Kratzer.

Friends and family are invited to attend her Visitation on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM, with a Funeral Service to begin at 12:00 PM at the Barnegat Funeral Home, Barnegat NJ.  A private burial service for the family will be held later at the family plot in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
