Norma Marzano, a resident of the Cedar Crest community in Pompton Plains, NJ, passed away on December 28, 2021 at the age of 86.
Born in Pittston, PA, she graduated from Hillside, NJ, High School and went on to earn a degree from the Katharine Gibbs School, which lead to a very successful administrative career.
A highly regarded executive secretary for the State of New Jersey for 15 years, retiring in 1996, Norma also lived in the New Jersey communities of Union and Long Valley before moving in 1997 to Barnegat, NJ, where she spent 24 years.
Norma had many passions, including ceramics and bowling. An avid reader, she stayed active in the Barnegat community, playing cards, Mahjong, and shooting pool with her many friends.
Predeceased in 2017 by her husband of 60 years, Gordon Marzano Sr., she is survived by her son, Gordon Marzano Jr. and his wife, Maria Lavaia-Marzano of Wayne, NJ, daughter Sandra Hermes and her husband, Bill, of Libertyville, IL, along with four grandchildren, Natalie Marzano, and Nicholas, Tanner and Shaye Hermes.
Norma was loved and will be missed by many who knew her for her kind heart, and gregarious and feisty personality.
A viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, January 4th, from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm, at the Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. A funeral mass is scheduled for Wednesday, January 5th, at 10:00 am at Saint Mary’s Church, 747 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Norma will be laid to eternal rest with her husband at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in North Hanover Township, NJ.
