On August 19, 2025 the world lost a bright star far too soon. Nick Danbrowney (a.k.a. Brownie, Deebo, or Chuck), 22, was a beloved son, brother, friend, and a talented baseball player whose legacy extends far beyond the diamond. His greatest joy was found on the field, and his vibrant spirit will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who cheered for him. He was a one-of-a-kind person who lived a life full of laughter, love, and friendship.
Born on June 27, 2003, in Manahawkin, New Jersey, and a lifelong resident of Barnegat, New Jersey, Nick was the beloved first child of Raymond and Lisa Danbrowney and cherished brother of Ray Danbrowney. Those who knew Nick will remember his larger-than-life personality, his infectious laughter, and his passion for baseball. He had an unmatched ability to brighten any room, whether through a quick joke, a funny story, or simply his easygoing charm. Nick’s energy and spirit touched everyone around him, leaving behind memories that will be treasured forever.
Nick’s talent on the baseball field shone brightly during his years at Barnegat High School (2017-2021), where he set records with a .485 season batting average and a .909 slugging percentage — both the highest in school history. He was the career home run leader, B South Hitter of the Year, and earned recognition as a member of the 2021 All Shore First Team and the 2021 Second Team All State Group 2. Outside of high school, Nick was also a pivotal member of the Jersey Shore Fire team, an elite group where he excelled in pitching and hit many home run “bombs”. Through this team, he built long-lasting relationships with his Jersey Shore family.
Following his successful high school career, Nick was a respected student-athlete and an accomplished four-year member of the Ramapo College baseball team whose impact extended far beyond the pitcher’s mound. As Ramapo’s record-setting pitcher, he struck out 225 batters over his collegiate career, the most in the College’s history, and earned 20 wins in 45 appearances, helping lead the team through countless memorable moments, including a semifinal victory in the 2024 NJAC Tournament. His hard work and successful performance led him to achieve his lifelong dream of signing a professional contract with the Bakersfield Train Robbers of the Pecos League in June 2025. During his time with the Train Robbers, he joined the starting rotation, hit a memorable 3-run homer, and helped the team rally to second place in the Pacific Division. Nick’s tenacity on the field and gentle nature off it will be remembered forever.
Nick is survived by his loving parents, Raymond and Lisa Danbrowney, his younger brother Ray Danbrowney, and his long-term girlfriend, Brooke Rossiter. Nick also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, teammates, coaches, and a significant number of loyal friends. Nick is predeceased by one of his lifelong friends, Dylan DeStefano.
