Milton Jacobs Obituary

Milton Jacobs, 93, of Barnegat, New Jersey (previously of Fair Lawn, NJ) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born July 22, 1931, in Washington Heights, New York, to his late parents Morris Jacobs and Mollie Horowitz.  He grew up with his 2 brothers Sylvan (1997) and Herbert (1995).  As a kid, Milton was passionate about building HAM radios and utilizing morse code as that was the technology back during WWII.  After graduating high school in the Bronx, New York, in 1949, Corporal (CPL) Milton Jacobs served in the Korean War (1952-54) specializing in Radar/Communications in Germany.  After the war, he worked for many government contractors (i.e. Sperry UNIVAC, ITT, etc.) in the field of communications during the cold war.  As the years went on Milton continued his expertise in communications while working for Western Union International, DCA and finally retiring from NYC brokerage firm Neuberger Berman.

He is preceded by his beloved wife Phyllis Jacobs (01/19/2025) of 62 years, his loving son Craig and daughter-in-law Theresa, and their twin grandsons Steven and Matthew.

Milton was a family man who loved his wife and would do anything for his family.  In the early years, we would go on vacation (when possible), go skiing (back when it really snowed) and we worked together on house projects.  Dad was quite handy when it came to “house wiring”.  In his retirement years, his friends knew him as a class act.  He loved to laugh, connect and be in the company of others.  He really enjoyed participating in activities with those in the Italian American Club, hanging out at the club house with mom, joking around, playing pool, and just being happy.  He had a good whit and enjoyed food no matter what the situation.  There’s an old saying, “You never grow old at the dinner table”.  That’s probably what kept him young to the very end.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 1 to 4 PM with Military Honors at 3:00 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. (www.BarnegatFH.com)

His wishes were to be cremated, and internment of ashes will be in Bg. Wm. C Doyle Vet. Mem. Cem., 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, New Jersey at a future date.
