Michael Manicone Obituary

Michael (Mickey) Manicone, age 86 passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, held in God's loving care.

Born on November 25, 1939, Mickey lived a life grounded by family, faith, and love.  He was a devoted family man whose strength, kindness, humor, and quiet wisdom touched all who knew him.

Mickey shared a deep love with the love of his life, his wife Judy.  He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Judy, and his beloved son, Robert, and his family finds comfort in knowing they are now reunited in eternal peace.  He is now with his "Coney Island Baby."

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Mickey later moved to Wayne, New Jersey and then to Pompton Lakes, New Jersey where he lovingly raised his family, creating a home filled with many wonderful memories.  In his later years, he retired residing in Barnegat, New Jersey.

For many years, Mickey worked for Ford Motor Company, where he was a dedicated member of the UAW. Through his hard work and loyalty, he built a career he was proud of and later retired from Ford.

Mickey was proud to be a member of the American Legion and the Elks Club, organizations that reflected his respect for service, community, and fellowship.  He valued the friendships formed through these memberships.

A man of deep faith, Mickey served as an usher at St. Mary's Parish for many years.  He found great joy in sharing his musical talents, playing the piano at Barnegat Nursing Home alongside his beloved nephew Joey, bringing comfort and smiles to residents.  Mickey also faithfully visited weekly the Manahawkin Nursing Home offering spiritual comfort and kindness to those in need.

In his spare time, Mickey found joy in life's simple pleasures.  He loved fishing, spending time near the water, playing the slot machines in Atlantic City, dining out, and listening to music.  These moments brought him happiness and created many cherished memories.  He was also famously known for making the strongest drinks, a talent that brought plenty of laughter at family and friends’ gatherings and parties.

During the past few years, he found a friendship and companionship with Cheryl, that he very much treasured.  Cheryl was a blessing to him and his family.

He is survived by his children; Michael Manicone (Kim), Sandy Vanderstad (John); his cherished grandchildren, Brian Vanderstad (Emilia), Nicole Manicone (fiance Noah), Jaclyn Peveri (Nicholas); and his 4-month-old great-grandson Gianni Michael, who will forever carry his love in their hearts.  He is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews that meant the world to him.
