Michael DeVirgiliis

Michael DeVirgiliis, 79, of Barnegat, NJ passed on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Born to his late parents, Joseph and Rose DeVirgiliis, he was formerly of Irvington, NJ.  Michael retired from Merck & Co. in Rahway and has been a resident of Barnegat since 1975. He then drove a school bus for Southern Regional High School in Manahawkin, NJ. Michael was a very skilled carpenter and enjoyed employing his talent to create furniture and displays.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Carmella; four loving children, Joseph and his wife, Dianna DeVirgiliis, Anthony DeVirgiliis, Vito DeVirgiliis and Michael Thomas Virgiliis; three cherished grandsons, Logan, Christian and Joey; two sisters, Jean Kushmerick and Adeline Costello and her husband, Joseph; sister in Law, Rose Quigley; brother-in-law, Jim Deseno and his wife, Patty; as well as many loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday, 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, Barnegat. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, Toms River, NJ. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
