Michael Cappadocia Obituary

With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Michael Cappadocia, who died peacefully on August 16, 2025.  Courageous in his fight, he was a devoted husband, loving father, talented chef, and a man whose quiet strength, generous spirit, and playful nature touched the lives of all who knew him.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Mary Cappadocia; his cherished daughter, Kayla Amatuzzi; his son-in-law, Jeremy; as well as his fur pups, Percy and Polly.  He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Connie, father, Ronald, sister Bonnie, and Aunt Fran.

A lifelong cook and dedicated sous chef, Michael was known for his skill, creativity, and love for feeding others. His kitchen was a place of comfort, laughter, and connection—whether at home or in the restaurants where he proudly worked.

He loved the Jersey Shore, where he spent hours on his many boats. He enjoyed cruising, embracing the adventure of new places and peaceful days at sea. Winters were spent skiing in Vermont, Canada and the Poconos. On the softball field, Michael was known not only as a player but also as a dedicated coach, teaching his daughter's teammates the spirit of competition and skill. A devoted baseball fan, he cheered for both the Phillies and the Yankees; his lifelong favorite team.

He especially enjoyed sharing a good beer or a glass of whiskey—moments filled with laughter, stories, and connection.

He was famous for his ability to fall asleep anywhere. He was well known for the “Cappadocia Stare”—a steady look that could say more than words ever could. It was part of his dry wit and gentle way of nudging those around him to see life with a little more humor and heart.

Michael used to say, “I’m fine,” —words that became a quiet hallmark of his humble and courageous spirit.

Above all, Michael will be remembered for his humility, courage, and the steady, loyal love he gave so freely to those around him. He built a life grounded in simple joys, meaningful work, and deep family bonds.

Michael’s legacy lives on in the meals he prepared, the games he played, the journeys he took, the smiles he inspired, and, most importantly, in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
