Martin E. Sklar

Martin E Sklar, 84 of Barnegat New Jersey passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9th 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Marty was born August 6th, 1941 in the Bronx New York to Louis and Sally Sedlitz. Marty graduated from Long Island University with a degree in Liberal Arts. He obtained his Masters of Social Work from Adelphi University in 1974.

Marty married Debra Kinsbrunner on December 24th, 1967 in Brooklyn New York. They were married 58 years. Marty and Debbie met in freshman English class at Long Island University in Brooklyn New York. Marty worked for the City of New York for over 30 years in the home healthcare field. Marty retired in 2002. 

In retirement, Marty worked part time in hospice care. He then volunteered at the Southern Ocean Medical Center. His hobbies included playing guitar and banjo.  He enjoyed bowling, traveling, his beloved golden retrievers and cigars.

Marty is survived by his wife Debra and sons Warren, Matthew and Jesse and grandson Jacob. 

Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 1 to 2:30 PM with a Memorial Service at 2:30 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ.
