Mark J. Butler

Mark J. Butler, 61 years of age, of Barnegat, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born on November 7, 1964, Mark was a dedicated husband, a proud and loving father, and a loyal friend to many. He served his community with honor as a retired police officer for the Lyndhurst Police Department, a role he carried with strength, integrity, and pride. Mark made a lasting impact on his community and on all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He found his greatest joy in the simple, meaningful moments, by casting a line while fishing, crabbing along the shore, and playing sports with his beloved daughters, Stephanie and Kerry. Those memories, filled with laughter and love, will be cherished forever.

Above all, Mark was a family man. He adored spending time with his granddaughter Makenna and was overjoyed to welcome his newest granddaughter, Evelyn. His love for them was boundless, and his presence in their lives will always be felt.

Mark was predeceased by his father, Francis J. Butler, and his mother, Eileen Butler.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jacqueline Puglisi Butler; his daughters, Stephanie Butler and Kerry Butler; his sons-in-law, Brandon Butler and Gerald Gares III; his cherished granddaughters, Makenna and Evelyn; his mother-in-law, Ann Puglisi; and his loving uncle, Gerald Warbeck.

Mark will be remembered for his strength and the unwavering love he gave so freely. He leaves behind a family who will carry his memory in their hearts always. With faith in God’s promise of eternal life, we find comfort in knowing Mark is now at peace in the loving arms of the Lord.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ 08005.  A Mass will follow on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Barnegat, New Jersey. Private Cremation to follow.
