Marilyn, 77, passed away on December 30, 2020. She was born in Jersey City, NJ, on May 8, 1943. Predeceased by her father and mother, George and Rose Mischio and her first husband, Walter E. Nagel (1996), Marilyn grew up in Montvale, NJ. As a young woman starting her business career, Marilyn met her first husband, Walter, at her job as a Secretary to the President of a small company in NJ. After their marriage, Marilyn left the business world to become a full time homemaker and mother. After the birth of their first child, Brian, they moved to Hillsdale, NJ, where their second child, Keith, was born. Eventually they moved to Upper Saddle River, NJ, where they lived for the next 35+ years. Marilyn was involved with her children as “cheerleader” at their sporting events, volunteered with the Club Scouts, and did some fundraising for the West Bergen Mental Health Center. Marilyn was also involved with the Saddle River Newcomers Club acting as Chairwoman for many activities working her way up to President of the club from 1976-1977. Eventually Walter sold his business and he and Marilyn started their own business selling original antique prints and maps. Upon Walter’s death in 1996, Marilyn chose to go back into the corporate world and became an Office Manager for an insurance company located in Montvale. She eventually met her second husband, Gary in 1998 and they were married on September 8, 2001. Marilyn and Gary retired in 2013 and they relocated to Waretown, NJ. Marilyn was involved in Women’s Club-Bocce, Italian Club, Israeli Heritage Club and Aerobic Swimming. Marilyn’s passion in life, besides her family, was her involvement with food. A gourmet cook who collected cookbooks and recipes wherever she could find them. There were many happy memories around her table with wonderful meals. Marilyn and Gary loved to travel and enjoyed many cruises and trips all over the world.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Gary. Survivors also include her sons, Brian, his wife, Barbara Nagel, and Keith Nagel, and his wife Diana Milia. Also Surviving are her stepchildren, Neil Weiss, and his wife, Tricia, Beth Wolberg, and her husband, Darren, Gwen Aquino, and her husband, David, Max Weiss, Larry Weiss, and his wife, Terri. She will be missed by her beloved grandchildren, Carol Nagel, Jessica and Hannah Weiss, Lauren and Alyssa Aquino, Adam, Cory and Joshua Wolberg, Amanda Weiss and Arianna Tait. She leaves behind her brother, George Mischio, and his wife, Barbara, sister-in-law, Ronni Israel and Eileen Nagel and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 9-11 AM with a Blessing at 11 AM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave, Barnegat, NJ. Interment to follow in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
