Marian W. Naughton

The angels of heaven welcomed Marian Naughton, of Waretown, NJ on Friday, May 25 having just celebrated her 90th birthday. She was born in Brooklyn, NY  on May 22, 1928, to the late Karl and Marie Wende. Heading up the welcoming committee was her husband, Francis C. Naughton who had passed over in 1992.

Marian was an outspoken, strong and loving woman who survived a challenging childhood as an only child without the benefit of her father for most of her life. After she attended St. Joseph’s High School in Brooklyn, Marian and Frank married in 1950 and gave birth to three children: Stephen (1953), Christopher (1955) and Barbara (1957). Her dedication as a caring mother and working mom helped put all of her children through college and professional graduate schools. Marian enjoyed a career that included working for the Union County, NJ Prosecutor’s Office and the U.S. Air Force.

Marian is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law Stephen Paul and Kathleen Gibson Naughton of Toms River, NJ; Christopher W. Naughton and Valerie A. Jones of Virginia Beach, VA; and daughter and son-in-law Barbara Anne Cook and William Cook of Alburquerque, NM. She is also survived by grandchildren Will Cook 31, Christiana Furnari 24 and Stephen Cook 17 and step-grandchild Andrew Ostroth 29; as well as great grandchildren Gabriel Cook 8, Noah Furnari 3 and Piper Furnari 1.5.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Barnegat, NJ, Tuesday May 29 at 9:30am. Interment shall follow at the Fairmount Cemetery in Tewksbury Township, NJ. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
