Margaret Hlavacek Obituary

Margaret Theresa Hlavacek, 70, of Barnegat, New Jersey passed away peacefully at home on January 15, 2022 with family by her side. Margaret, better known as Peggy was born in Phillipsburg, NJ on December 18, 1951. She spent her early years in rural Asbury, NJ and later Ringwood, NJ. After graduating Lakeland Regional High School, Peggy joined American Cyanamid working in their international communications department. In 1977 she married John Hlavacek when she began her favorite endeavor, wife, home maker, and mother. Together they began the amazing journey of raising their three pride and joys at the shore in Barnegat New Jersey. Blessed with the births of Michael, Brett, Rhonda and several pets she always acknowledged her good fortune and radiated a joy that she shared with everyone where ever she traveled. To the amazement of many, Peggy battled diabetes mellitus for over 50 years of her life. Despite her diagnosis she was very active in her children’s athletic endeavors, including being a cheer mom and karate mom, attending and chaperoning competitions all over, including international venues to cheer her son onto winning several championships. Peggy also loved to keep busy with reading, arts and crafts, and gifting many with handmade personalized items like knitted and crochet afghans, blankets and hats as well as ceramic pieces of all kinds that serve as lasting memories of her generosity and many artistic talents. We are very grateful she lived through this Christmas and New Year holidays, her favorite time of year. She loved to entertain, cook, and decorate. We often joked that if you stood still she would decorate you!
Peggy was predeceased by her Father Joseph Sweitzer and mother Ann Sweitzer. She is survived by her beloved husband John, son Michael Hlavacek, son Brett and wife Kim Hlavacek, and daughter Rhonda Hlavacek. Also surviving are her three loving sisters, JoAnne Amery, Kathy Roll, Barbara Sweitzer, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
God bless our beautiful and sweet Peggy smiling in heaven.
