Lucia (Lucille) Carnevale (nee Zarra) passed away on Sunday August 31st surrounded by her loved ones. Born August 21, 1935 to Gerardo and Carolina Zarra she was raised in Newark with her five sisters. She married Donato (Dan) Carnevale in 1955 and together they raised their four children in Newark and then Cranford, NJ. Years later Lucille and Dan retired to Long Beach Island, NJ.
Lucille's favorite hobby was her love of games of chance and taught all nine of her grandchildren how to bet the ponies, play roulette and of course the slots.. She loved the Hallmark channel, puzzles and being with her family. She and her husband were known for their infectious laughter and their ability to giggle about everything. And her lasagna will be talked about and passed on for generations to come.
If you knew her, you know she was on the express elevator to heaven. Recently, during a random question card game with her grandchildren, MomMom Lu was asked, “What is your strongest held belief? Her response was immediate and with conviction, “There IS a God, and we will meet Him someday!”
She is survived by her beloved husband Dan; her children Frank (Sandy); Dan (Marjie); Theresa Bemko (Peter) and Vinnie (Michelle) and her grandchildren - Lindsay Jurczyk (Nick); Brian Carnevale (Hollie); Adam Bemko (Lexi); Gary Carnevale (Erica); Kristie Carnevale, Kara Bemko; Nikki Fitzsimmons (Tanner); Travis Carnevale and Sofia Carnevale; her great-grandchildren - Keegan Carnevale; Annabella Jurczyk; Noah Lombardi; Iris Bemko; Quinn Carnevale; Sutton Jurczyk, Orion Bemko and Wren Carnevale; her sister-in-law Doris Biggins (Tom). She was pre-deceased by her parents (Gerardo and Carolina Zarra) and her sisters Connie (Jerry), Mary, Grace (Emmanuel), Jenny (Edward) and Rosalie.
Burial will be private.
