Louis D. Monaco

Louis David Monaco, age 81, died peacefully on September 1, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.  Known to many as Lou, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, teacher, host and stage actor. He lived a full and meaningful life as a dedicated family man. There isn’t person who met Lou whose life wasn’t made better by his kind words, positive messages, unyielding support and pure love. He had a rewarding career as a special education teacher for over 30 years. Retirement didn’t suit Lou, for 28 years during and after his teaching career, he was known to locals and visitors alike in the Long Beach Island community as the host of his favorite restaurant, Uncle Will’s. 

Lou had a lifelong passion for theater. He held local celebrity status as a director and actor in his cherished Our Gang Players theater group. His theater family held a very special place in his heart. 

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Annette, the love of his life, his children who adored him Jessica, Jared, Lucas, Lauren, and Lindsey, his children-in-law John and Emily and his treasured granddaughter Everleigh-Jane. 

He is predeceased by his parents, Gertrude and Anthony Monaco, who he is now reunited with above in Heaven to watch over his family below. 

A Funeral Mass will held in memoriam on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at S. Mary’s Church at 10:00 AM (747 Bay Avenue, Barnegat, NJ) Interment to follow in Ocean County Memorial Park, Waretown, NJ.
