Kenneth H. Nelson

Kenneth Henry Nelson, 82, a 20-year resident of Barnegat, New Jersey, formerly of Ridgewood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on December 18, 2025.

Kenneth was born on December 1, 1943, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Henry L. Nelson and Mildred Nelson. He was raised alongside his sisters, Carol and Sharon, and carried the strong Midwestern values of family, integrity, and hard work with him throughout his life.

On August 13, 1966, Kenneth married the love of his life, Sharon L. Vize, in Closter, New Jersey. Their nearly six decades of marriage were the foundation of a devoted and loving family.

Kenneth graduated from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in 1966. That same year, he began his lifelong career in education at Ramapo Regional High School in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. Over the course of 39 years, he served as both a teacher and supervisor, dedicating himself fully to his students, colleagues, and the school community. He later earned his master’s degree in education from William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. His commitment to education left a lasting impact on generations of students.

Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon L. Nelson; his sons, Kenneth H. Nelson Jr. and his wife, Samantha, and Brian Nelson and his wife, Natalie; and his cherished grandchildren, Margaret, Chloe, Ryan, Holly, and Kenneth.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Carol O’Brien and Sharon Norton.

Kenneth will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his lifelong commitment to education, and the quiet strength, kindness, and integrity he showed throughout his life.
