Kathryn "Tootsie" Gurley

Kathryn “Tootsie” Gurley, 93, of Lakewood, NJ passed away September 5, 2023 in Barnegat. Born July 2, 1930 in Lakewood, NJ to her late parents, Francis “Buddy” and Eleanor “Mickey” Ogborne, Tootsie, as she was affectionately known, was a long time resident of Lakewood where she spent much of her time at her father’s soda shop. She had a passion for singing in her younger years, and brought joy to those around her with her beautiful voice.

Tootsie was a caring and devoted person always ensuring that her family was taken care of. One of her greatest joys in life was being there for her loved ones. She had a deep love for animals, particularly dogs, which filled her heart with joy. She also had a remarkable ability to find positivity in any situation and was known for her resilience. Tootsie’s kindness and warm hearted nature touched the lives of many.

Surviving are her loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, Linda Lane and Tom Gavan, Karen Pedersen, Richard and Linette Herring, James and Kathy Herring, Danielle, Lindsey, Autumn, Jacqueline, Brandy, Dustin, JP, Nicholas, Shane and Kallie.

Interment of cremains will be held 11 AM on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lakewood, NJ. Barnegat Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
