Joyce B. Vieiro

Joyce B. Vieiro, 80, of Barnegat, NJ, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 26, 2021. She was born in Newark, NJ to her late parents, Roy and Ethel Peppard. The first time she met her husband was when he asked her to dance 60 years ago and they loved to dance any chance they got. Formerly of Bridgewater, NJ, they raised their family there; always entertaining and bringing the family together for holidays or cook outs and opened her home to all. She retired from the Johnson & Johnson Co. moving to the Mirage in Barnegat, NJ 20 years ago.  Believing in Christian values, she's given a lot of herself to help others through her volunteering in various organizations like Habitat for Humanity and local community based organizations such as being a Trustee and an active member in a myriad of clubs and organizations at Mirage. They ranged from being a group coordinator for the Barnegat Bookies to a member of the Red Hats. Joyce enjoyed playing mahjong, being in the craft club and volunteering her time in various endeavors, including Habitat for Humanity. 

Joyce was the original Martha Stewart and created art out of the ordinary. She was an artist of many medium from water colors, to ceramics, to flowers and shells. A founding member of the Bridgewater Craft Club; her evenings gathering with her friends and catching up on each other's crafts and the latest gossip was a highlight of each month. She was a devoted friend who always stood up for them through good times and bad and could be counted on when needed. 

Always seeking adventure, and as young woman, she could be found scuba diving or skiing and in her later years, travelled extensively with friends and family. Joyce read compulsively and loved to talk books. She was always looking for new titles to expand her horizons and loved a good mystery thriller. In later years she turned to crossword puzzles to keep her mind active and sharp.  She was a devoted Jeopardy fan and always planned her evenings around 7:00 to be sure not to miss an episode.

 Surviving are her beloved husband of 56 years, Al Vieiro; three loving children, Donna Vieiro (Suzanne), Alan Vieiro (Heather), Denise Kother (David); five cherished grandchildren; Miriam, Jonathan, Madeline, Phoebe and Naomi; three devoted brothers, Roy, Jack and Karl Peppard. She was predeceased by twin grandsons.

Viewing Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat. Funeral Service offered Friday at 10:00 AM at Barnegat Funeral Home.

 Private cremation to follow.
