Joseph A. Stanilious (Joe), 85, of Barnegat and formerly Long Beach Island and Wharton, NJ passed away peacefully on 9/13/23.
Joe was born in Wharton, NJ and was a graduate of Dover High School class of 1956.
Joseph retired after a successful 50+ years in the electrical supply business, first at Kahant Electric and later Cooper Electrical Supply where he applied his dedication and work ethic and was consistently recognized as one of the top sales representatives. In earlier years Joe proudly served for his country in the National Guard for 6 years. He also enthusiastically volunteered countless hours to his children’s activities including, coaching and President of the Wharton Athletic Association in the 1970’s and 1980’s as well as assisting with the Morris Hills High School Football Gridiron club.
He had an unquestionable and selfless love for family and his check-ins included support and encouragement. He was regularly seen and heard rooting and supporting his children and grandchildren from the sideline and proudly enjoyed hearing and seeing their accomplishments.
Joe was known among his family and friends for his creativity in the kitchen and “Dad, Pop Pop, Big Joe, Mr. Stan” loved cooking for family and his children’s friends at regular get togethers including his infamous sausage and peppers or his famous breakfast potatoes among other favorites. He was always busy planning, organizing, and implementing projects which included instructing and teaching his “tools of the trade” to his children and any others that had an interest. He prided himself in maintaining his household alongside his wife and best friend, Beverly. Gardening was another passion of his and he was always finding something new to challenge his skill. His love for roses and vegetable gardens was evident as he worked in the garden with his children and grandchildren with whatever was in season. Family was his pride and joy.
Preceded in death by his parents Clara and Joseph Stanilious and siblings James, Helen, Fred, Mary, Clara and Andrew and in-laws James and Edith.
