Joseph S. Rocco

Joseph S. Rocco, 88, of Barnegat, NJ passed on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 peacefully at home. Born in Brooklyn, NY to his late parents, Joseph and Josephine Rocco, he is a United States Air Force Veteranr.  Joseph had a desire to help others and became a friend to many. In particular, he served as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and went to New Orleans to help build houses after Hurricane Katrina. He also mentored students in order to assist them in getting their GED, with a special proficiency for mathematics. Joseph enjoyed playing the guitar; notably writing a book on guitar theory. He was a Civil War buff, and loved writing, especially poems.

 He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Cecilia; three loving children, Thomas Rocco (Nora Shaat), Angela Nese (the late Gerald Nese), Lorraine Rocco (Mark Sullivan); six cherished grandchildren, Kelley Rocco, Joseph, Andrew and Isabelle Reilly, Gabriella and Gianna Nese; brother, James Rocco (the late Sophie Rocco); brother, Jerry Rocco (Ginny Rocco); as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 4 to 7 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Private Cremation to follow. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
