John J. Woods

John J. Woods, 78, of Barnegat, NJ, passed away on Friday, March 17th, 2023.  Born in New York City, John was predeceased by his parents, John and Edith Woods, younger brother, Jimmy, and younger sister, Mary.  John is formerly of East Brunswick, NJ, and has been a resident of Barnegat for 17 years.  After retiring as Vice President of Operations, he found a second career in real estate.  Aside from the enormous pride he took in his careers, John greatly enjoyed boating, fishing, and music, especially Doo-Wop and Johnny Cash.  He had a passion for dabbling in the stock market, planning vacations and cruises, indulging in favorite snacks like Peanut M&Ms, soft-serve vanilla ice cream, and donuts, and watching Western movies featuring his fellow “J.W.,” John Wayne.  Most of all John took great pride in his role as a family man, always providing for their needs and enjoying nothing more than spending time surrounded by his devoted family.

He is survived by Linda, his beloved wife of 58 years; two treasured children: son, John and his wife, Dana; daughter, Allison, and her two cherished children, Courtney and Gavin; older sister, Sally Doty; younger brother, Frank and his wife Mary; “favorite” sister-in-law, Terry Trotta; adored niece and goddaughter, Kelly Trotta; and many loving nieces and nephews, including goddaughters, Jennifer and Karen. 

A Memorial Gathering in honor of John’s beautiful life is scheduled for 4-7 PM on Tuesday, March 21st, 2023, at the Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. (www.BarnegatFH.com.)
