Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, John Mutek, of Barnegat, NJ, passed away on August 21. He was 70 years old.
Born in Somerville, NJ, to Wendel and Sophie (Grigorjew) Mutek, John raised his family in Manville, NJ, living there for 33 years until he and his wife of 47 years, Dale, moved to Barnegat in 2020. John had two sons Chris and Justin (m. Dana LaVacca Mutek) and two young grandsons, Tristan and Jax. He is also survived by his brother Michael and sister-in-law, Patricia, and predeceased by brother Stephen.
John served in the army from 1973-1976. He retired from AJ Jersey where he was a field manager/trainer.
There was nothing John loved more than spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband to Dale, rarely spending non-working time away from her. Recently retired, John and Dale loved strolling on the beach and boardwalk, watching summertime concerts on the dock, and taking their boat out with their sons and grandsons. He was also a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed going to car shows.
To John, his greatest joy was raising Chris and Justin and later doting on Tristan and Jax. With Chris, he loved shooting golf balls, and he served as trackside mechanic and enjoyed giving Justin pep talks and advice at the dirt bike races. Both grandsons are following in their father Justin’s dirt bike adventures and John was delighted in watching them learn new skills on their starter bikes.
A very close-knit family, John, Dale, his sons, daughter-in-law, grandkids and extended family spent many weekends and holidays together. John was known for dropping whatever he was doing to help-out a family member or friend. Hardworking, loyal and fun, John will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 6-9 PM to conclude with Military Honors at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Private Cremation to follow. (www/BarnegatFH.com)
