John P. Mayer, 70, of Barnegat, NJ, passed Friday, July 3, 2020. Born in Hoboken, NJ, to his late parents, John and Catherine Mayer, he is also pre-deceased by his sister, Katherine Mayer and brother, Andrew Mayer. Formerly of Edison, NJ, John worked in the telecommunications industry, having been employed by NJ Bell for twenty years, and IBEW Union Local 269. After retiring, John was a Ranger at The Atlantis Golf Course, and was an avid golfer and fisherman. John lived his life for his children and grandchildren. He was a good friend to many, always telling jokes and making people smile. He was a Yankees fan and sports fanatic. He was a devoted coach and mentor for his children and their teammates. John took great pride in his gardening and landscaping. He was a wonderful husband and honorable man. He touched the hearts of everyone he met and made each one feel special. John loved life and lived it to the fullest.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Donna; his three loving children, Rob Mayer (Meghan Mayer), Stephen Mayer (Leigh Redd), and Nicole Mayer (Albert Rowland); six cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Callahan, Nolan, Logan, Lennon and Charlotte Rae; devoted brother, Paul Mayer; his devoted rescue Lab-Mix, Holly.
