John W. Hamm

John W. Hamm, 68, of Barnegat, NJ passed on Thursday, May 22, 2025. Born in Mount Holly, NJ to his late parents, Clarence and Harriet Hamm, he resided in Barnegat, NJ for over 25 years with the light of his life, his loving wife Karen; proudly owning and operating J&K Marine Services, LLC for over a decade. 

From a young age he worked along side his father in the garage of their family owned business, Hamm’s Garage.  There he learned how to be a successful mechanic mastering his trade over the years finding his passion for fixing all things.

John was a lover of the outdoors. He spent most of his days on the Barnegat Bay.  Whether it was boating, fishing, gardening, hauling boats, fixing boats, or even just whistling his favorite tune enjoying the weather, he always wore his smile. His willingness to always lend a hand lead to strong bonds with great people in the community and many lifelong friendships.  When John was not out on the bay, he was tinkering around his garage and tending to his garden producing some of the best vegetables around.  He was patient, kind, loving, nurturing, and a teacher of all things. If you knew John then you had the honor to learn from him and were taught at least one valuable tool for life.  He valued his family and adored spending time with his 7 grandchildren.  Summers were spent enjoying every moment to the fullest and always included teaching his grandchildren to swim.  

He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; two loving children, Heather and her husband, Thomas Riley of Cedar Run, NJ and Jonathan and his wife, Stephanie Krill of Dade City, FL; seven cherished grandchildren, Kayla, Emma, Johnny, Nicholas, Cameron, Thomas and Malina; two sisters, Donna and husband, Richard Carlson of Glastonbury, CT and Nancy Hamm and longtime companion, Gary of Coatesville, PA;  brother, Buddy and wife, Sue Hamm of Eastampton, NJ; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 4-8 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Avenue, Barnegat, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Thursday at 10:00 AM at Barnegat Funeral Home, followed by a Blessing at 11:00 AM at Ocean County Memorial Park Mausoleum, Waretown, NJ.
