John P. DeAngelo, November 8,1937- October 28,2025 (87)

A lifelong resident of the Ironbound section of Newark, moved to Barnegat NJ in April 2021. A graduate of Seton Hall Prep and Seton Hall University, John worked as an Attendance Counselor with the Newark Board of Education for 33 years. He was past president of Ironbound Optimist Club, started the Ironbound Suns Pop-Warner Football team in the 1970’s in which he was an inspiration to many boys who participated, organized Oliver Street Basketball league for juveniles, enjoyed gardening in the city and won an Urban Garden ribbon. John loved going to Atlantic City, horse racing, the Mets and Notre Dame.

Predeceased by his wife Antionette DeAngelo(Nee Vicidomini) of 47 years, survived by a sister Lorraine Limaldi,  his daughter Susan Caprara & son in law Robert, son Salvatore DeAngelo & girlfriend Kathy, son Joseph DeAngelo & daughter in law Janene, son Gerald DeAngelo & daughter in law Lilliana, daughter Joyce Schuler & son in law Thomas, grandchildren Stephanie, Joseph, Michael, Steven, Nicole, Michelle and Great granddaughter Valentina, many nieces, nephews and longtime friends.

John loved helping people, volunteering in his community, helping with the civic association but most of all his family.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 1 to 5 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Entombment will be held Monday in Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
