John Mehr Obituary

John Charles Mehr, 88, of Barnegat, New Jersey passed on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Southern Ocean Medical Center, Manahawkin, New Jersey.  Born in Maspeth, New York, to his late parents, John and Emma Mehr, he is formerly of Sunnyside, New York and Bergenfield, New Jersey and was a Barnegat resident for 21 years.  A United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, John worked for the New York Telephone Company for 38 years and The Home Depot for 27 years.

John enjoyed summer vacations in Virginia Beach and cruises when the opportunity arose.  John was an avid card player; and he enjoyed bowling, participating in several bowling leagues over the years.  John spent many years as a clown for the Telephone Pioneers of America, volunteering his time for fundraising charities.  He was a huge New Jersey Devils fan and a member of the fan club; and enjoyed watching them play in person, as a season ticketholder, and on television.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 66 years, Joan; three loving children, Annette Marie Posencheg (Robert), Jennifer Mary Loucanides (Peter) and Carl Frederick Mehr (Francesca); eight cherished grandchildren, Christian, Nicholas, Robert, Emma-Rose, Althea, Ian, Mia and Ava.  He is loved and will be missed by all.
