Joan Mehr Obituary

Joan Harriet Mehr, nee Jaglinski, 85, of Barnegat, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Southern Ocean Medical Center, Manahawkin, NJ. Born in Queens, NY, to her late parents, Fred and Hedwig Jaglinski, she is formerly from Sunnyside, NY, and Bergenfield, NJ and was a Barnegat, NJ resident for 20 years.  She worked for many years at Bell Atlantic and Hertz Corporation (trucking division) in New York City and New Jersey.

Joan enjoyed summer vacations in Virginia Beach and cruises to just about anywhere.  Joan spent much of her time knitting and crocheting.  She was a member of the Nimble Fingers group at Four Seasons at Mirage making blankets and hats for hospitalized children.  Joan enjoyed cooking and baking; and on many occasions she baked for the Mirage Women’s Club fundraiser, Let’s Go Shopping Day.  She was a New Jersey Devils fan and a Devils Fan Club member; and enjoyed hockey games, as a former season ticketholder, and later on television.

Joan is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, John. She is survived by three loving children, Annette Marie Posencheg (Robert), Jennifer Mary Loucanides (Peter) and Carl Frederick Mehr (Francesca); eight cherished grandchildren, Christian, Nicholas, Robert, Emma-Rose, Althea, Ian, Mia and Ava.  She is loved and will be missed by all.

Memorial Gathering will be at St. Mary of the Pines, where she was a Eucharistic Minister for many years, 100 Bishop Way, Manahawkin, New Jersey on Saturday, July 24, 2021, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with Mass immediately following.  We welcome all to celebrate Joan’s life on this day.
