Janet Coriell Rosenberg

Janet Coriell Rosenberg, of Barnegat NJ, died of pulmonary fibrosis at home on Sunday April, 6th 2025.

She was born in Rome NY in November of 1945 to Carl Coriell and Ruth Poland Coriell, their second child and first daughter. Janet had an older brother Eugene Alan “Al” Coriell and twin sisters Marilyn “Mimi” Dowd and Carolyn “Kiki” Hankerson.  Janet graduated from Woodrow Wilson High school in 1963 and went on to attend Monmouth College as part of their collegiate diving team.

Janet met the love her life, Jon Rosenberg, at a smoking cessation social mixer trying in Princeton NJ.  A second marriage for both they travelled the world for both Jon’s work and for pleasure  - always finding the most intriguing trinkets to return home with and show off to their friends and family. 

Janet was a devoted mother survived by her two children. Robert (and his wife Kelly) of Atlanta and daughter Jill Applegate of Barnegat.

Though she loved her community and her travel, Janet’s favorite role was that as a grandmother.  She treasured her time with her grandchildren and loved being their Grandma, never failing to spoil them with candy and shower them with love and affection.

Janet had a soft spot for all her pets over the years, rescuing dozens of cats and dogs, sometimes voluntarily and sometimes talked into it by relentless children or the puppy dog eyes and angelic faces of her grandkids.

Janet was a retired court executive working in the jury system in Mercer County, NJ.  After retiring, she spent her time volunteering for food banks, serving on local boards (Zoning, FireWise, Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary).

Janet was a lifelong republican. She contributed time and treasure to many conservative causes over the years. Janet was an avid billiards and bocce ball player and enjoyed playing mahjongg with her many neighborhood friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 1 to 3:30 PM with a Funeral Service to follow 3:30 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ 08005. Private Cremation to follow. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
