James McGill Obituary

James J. McGill, 81, of Manahawkin, NJ passed on January 15, 2021 peacefully at home. Born in Jersey City, NJ to his late parents, James and Lillian McGill, he is a veteran of the United States Army. James formerly resided in Bayonne, NJ, where he served as Captain with the Bayonne Fire Department, before retiring to Manahawkin in 1995.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Elsie McGill; three loving  children and their spouses, Michael and Kelly McGill, James and Laurie McGill, Kathryn and Shaun Egan; four cherished grandchildren, Melissa, Zachary, Tyler and Hannah. He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Brendan and Colin; his sister, Kathleen McGill; his brother, Daniel McGill.

Viewing will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 from 2 to 5 PM with a Blessing Service at 3 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Private cremation to follow.

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s or the American Heart Association.
