James E. Lowney, 71, of Waretown, NJ, passed on Thursday, October 1, 2020. James was born in Jersey City and lived in Kearny, NJ where he attended St. Cecilia Grammer School and was a 1967 graduate of Kearny High School. He enlisted for four years in the United States Marine Corps in 1967, serving in the 3rd Division, 4th Marines as a Radio Communications Specialist serving on the front lines in Vietnam, beginning in 1698, volunteered for a second tour thereafter. Upon discharge, he was a Marine Corps Reservist working at Earle Naval Weapons Station . James earned a bachelor's degree in business while working at IBM for 23 years. At age 50, he obtained a Master Winemaking Certificate and opened his wine making school, Grape Expectations, in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Jimmy loved hunting with his buddies and the beach with his wife and friends. His happy place was his home in Florida.
He was a very strong man who knew no limits on what he was capable of doing. And he always accomplished what he set out to do. He enjoyed many special friendships even going back to his high school days. He was a true friend to them all. Jimmy will mostly be remembered for being a man who would do all and everything for his family. He was adored and admired by his kids and grandkids. He was the rock of this family and their hero. He never stopped teaching them no matter how old they got. And they never stopped learning from him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann; four cherished children, Melissa Lowney-Nyegaard, and her husband, Michael, Laura Lowney, James Lowney, Jr., and his wife, Renee and Lindsay Ginger, and her husband, Trent; five cherished grandchildren, Jaden, Madison, Kylie, Cheyenne, Summer Rae; two brothers, William, and his wife, Maureen Lowney and Jack, and his wife, Jen Lowney; sister, Barbara Forlenza and many loving nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his son, Stephen Maurer; grandson, Jared Crippen and brother, Edward Lowney.
