James Krissak Obituary

James J. Krissak, aged 85, of Barnegat, formerly of Port Reading, died on January 25th, 2023 at the Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, NJ. 

He was born in Elizabeth and grew up in Carteret before moving to Port Reading in 1964. Upon graduating from Carteret High School in 1955, he served in the United States Air Force at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota as an airman first class refueling boom operator. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua RC Church in Port Reading and was a former car carrier truck driver for General Motors out of Linden for 37 years. Having that experience, and the thirst for adventure, Jim continued to drive anywhere in the United States his pickup truck would take him, his beloved family in tow. He continued to drive for the Borough of Carteret and Middlesex County Area Transit (MCAT) in his later years. Jim and his wife Barbara were avid campers and were NJ State Directors for the Newmar Kountry Klub, President of NJ Garden Aires, and members of the Pennsylvania Keystone Kountry Klub and the NJ Hobos.

James is predeceased by his parents, John Krissak and Mary (Ogarek), his loving wife Barbara Ann (Morris), his son Gregory James Krissak, his sister Lorraine Sulek, and his great grandson Michael James Schmidt.

James is survived by his daughter Michele Rivers and her husband James; his loving companion Suzanne Pribila; his brother Thomas Krissak; his five grandchildren, Gregory Krissak and his wife Ashley, Glenn Krissak, Jessica Schmidt and her husband Michael, James Rivers and his fiancé Kaitlyn, Nicholas Rivers and his wife Tiana; and his three great grandchildren Emma Krissak, Jaxon and Mason Rivers.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 29th, 2023 from 12:00PM to 3:00PM at Barnegat Funeral Home located at 841 W. Bay Avenue in Barnegat, NJ. Funeral Service Monday, 8:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by Mass, 10:00AM at the St. Anthony of Padua RC Church in Port Reading, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, NJ. (www.BarnegatFH.com) 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
