It is with deep sorrow and abiding love that we announce the passing of James Joseph Kendzulak Sr., a.k.a. Murphy, who entered into eternal rest peacefully on June 13, 2025, at the age of 83. Murphy was born on March 25, 1942, in New Brunswick, NJ to the late William Kendzulak and Clara (Dmytruk). A devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and faithful servant of God, Murphy lived his life with quiet strength, kindness, and a sense of humor that touched everyone he met.
Murphy leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Catherine (Condol), a.k.a. Kitty, his devoted partner through decades of shared love and laughter. Also surviving are their children, Virginia Caputo and Mark of Piscataway, James Kendzulak Jr. and Stacy of Union, and Judith Sundelof and Jeffrey Sr. of Piscataway. He found great joy in being “Paka” to his grandchildren: Jeffrey Jr., Lindsey, Brennan, and Megan, who were the light of his life.
Murphy was predeceased by his brothers Thomas (“Big Sid”) and John (“Huntz”). He will be greatly missed by his siblings William and Genie (Nelson), as well as many extended family members and friends.
Murphy served in the Air National Guard and retired from Union Carbide (Dow) after 36 years. He was a dedicated Yankee and Giants fan, enjoyed time in Atlantic City, and was quick to share a laugh. He especially loved any opportunity to get together with his brothers and sister and all his nieces and nephews. Murphy's kindness, generosity, and deep love for his family will never be forgotten.
A Memorial Mass will be offered 10 AM on Friday, June 20, 2025 at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 208 Bound Brook Ave., Piscataway, NJ 08834.
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
