Helmut S. Karlovits, 74, of Waretown, NJ passed on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 peacefully at home. Born in Punitz, Austria to his late parents, Peter and Rosa Karlovits, he was raised in Clifton, NJ and resided with his wife and children in Wayne, NJ, Bryn Mawr, PA, Lincroft, NJ and Holmdel, NJ before retiring to Greenbriar Oceanaire in Waretown.
Helmut was known for his love of the outdoors, often found on the golf course or by the water fishing. An accomplished bowler he also enjoyed bocce and playing cards, where he loved the competition and being with friends. His passion for cooking and talent in the kitchen, went hand in hand with creating beautiful memories of time spent together enjoying meals.
Pre-deceased by his loving son, Peter Karlovits, he is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Evelyn Karlovits; three loving children, Erica Karlovits and husband, Greg Ambrose, Christian Karlovits and wife, Kristine Mueller, Marissa Karlovits and partner, Dr. Christopher Bariana; loving daughter-in-law, Heather Hintlian Karlovits; three cherished grandchildren, Drew Karlovits, Connor Ambrose, Caitlin Ambrose; devoted brother, Peter Karlovits and wife, Anne; adored grand-dogs, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Koda, Enzo. He also is survived by his brothers-in-law, Carl Vitale and Jeff Logan and his sisters-in-law, Christine Logan, Palma Vitale, and Lynda Giordano along with many loved nieces and nephews.
Helmut was blessed not only with a loving family but also with an incredible circle of friends, neighbors, and golf buddies who stood by him with unwavering support, especially over the past years as his health declined. Their kindness, companionship and steadfast presence brought comfort, laughter and strength to Helmut and Evelyn. A special and heartfelt mention goes to Jim Eilbacher and Randy Viscomi, whose friendship and generosity of spirit meant the world to them. Their support along with that of so many others - - too numerous to name but deeply cherished - - was a true testament to the love and connections Helmut cultivated throughout his life.
