Giuseppina LaForgia (nee DeRobertis) “Pina,” 89, of Barnegat passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, January 12th 2024. Giuseppina was born to the late Luca and Eccelsa (Vitulano) DeRobertis in Molfetta, Italy. When her family immigrated to the United States in 1962, she first lived in Hoboken for approximately 10 years, before moving to Secaucus for 35 years, and finally to Barnegat for the remainder of her life. She was a seamstress and homemaker who devoted her time to taking care of her family. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking, and you could arrive at her home at any given time and be greeted with a warm welcome and a meal fit for royalty. In the times she wasn’t busy preparing delicious meals, she also enjoyed reading Italian books and sewing, as well as taking weekend day trips to the casinos in Atlantic City to try her luck with her husband.
A woman of petite stature, Giuseppina radiated kindness and unconditional love which was felt by anyone who was fortunate enough to cross paths with her. She was loved by all, and in return was also loved back tremendously, earning the titles of ‘Favorite Aunt,’ ‘Favorite Mother-in-Law,’ and ‘Favorite Nonna,’ among many others. Her gentle demeanor and abundant kindness was always demonstrated. For standing at a mere 5’ tall, her strength and resilience was fit for someone twice her size. Her hands, albeit tiny, held so much love for her family and all that knew her.
Giuseppina is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Giuseppe, and their three children Phyll Ceglie, Tonino LaForgia and wife Laura, and Elsa Lisa and husband Robert, as well as her cherished sister Nunzia Circonciso and her husband Cesare, sister-in-law Rosaria DeRobertis, and her grandchildren Nicole O’Connor and husband Kyle, Anthony Ceglie and wife Jenna, Joseph LaForgia, Angela LaForgia, and Tonino LaForgia, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Giuseppina was predeceased by her siblings Chiara DeCandia and her husband Michael, Corrado DeRobertis and his wife Rosa, Sergio DeRobertis, and Giovanna DeCandia and husband Damiano.
In respecting of her wishes, there will be no services.
